Live Music Stage announcements
The SurfX Team are very excited to finally reveal the line up for the Live music stage on the beach for the 1st May 2011!!!
The line up is as follows........
11.45 - 12.15.... Pachango
Pachango' is a british-colombian-afro-beat-reggae-fusion 9 piece band based in Bournemouth. Founded by passionate drummer Julian Leon, the name 'Pachango' comes from the spanish word 'Pa' meaning 'for or 'dedicated to' and `Chango' the african God of thunder, drums and dance. 'Chango' is known as a 'being of passion and power' and we believe everyone has a lot of 'chango' within themselves.
The members have played with many different bands, and bring their own unique music styles to what has become PACHANGO, the blending of a multi-rhythmic fusion family. The dynamic energy of our songs will make you dance, clap, move your feet or..... finally just your bum. We believe our music is uplifting with it's exciting melodic fusion of exotic gipsy-latin soulful rhythms, and strong powerful brass section that complements the sizzling flow of lyrics in spanish and english. We dedicate our music to 'Chango' and for the people who believe in us and support us.

Fool's Move, Lucas's recently released single is now available for download from iTunes.
His “one-man-band” style of performance is made possible with the use of the latest and most advance loop pedal on the market, the Boss RC-50 Loop Station. With this Lucas is able to record percussion, backing vocals and additional guitar parts live in front of an audience, and then incorporate those recordings into the song he is playing. All this is done smoothly and quickly, resulting in a full band sound being generated live by one man!

17:45 - 18:15..... Fearne
SurfX are honoured to have Fearne as the headlining band on the Live Music Stage.
If energy, talent and passion could be measured in gold, Fearne would be millionaires. The Bournemouth foursome, Alex Beds (vocal and acoustic guitar), Adam Pulfer (vocals and electric guitar), Nick Bryson (vocals, bass and synths) and Darren Barret (drums) are taking indie pop/rock to a whole new level and winning an army of fans in the process. With exceptional live performances it’s no wonder they have been on the road supporting artists such as Feeder, Athlete, Nizlopi, Stornoway and Diana Vickers. 2009 saw a busy year of touring culminating in their playing to 10,000 people and gaining many new fans with several sessions for BBC Radio Solent. Now with a new 6 track self-titled EP, 2010 is set to see them reach even greater heights.
Principal songwriter of the band, Alex Beds, has the voice and the lyrics to simultaneously charm you and break your heart. But don’t be fooled by his quiet assurance and unassuming persona, this man is a born entertainer and can whip up a crowd to fever pitch within seconds of stepping out onto the stage. The rhythm section of Fearne is key to their sound. Nick Bryson’s driving bass lines inject electric energy and funky overtones to deliver an exciting, multi-layered, complex sound. With Adam Pulfer’s searing lead guitar and Darren Barret’s throbbing drum section Fearne conjure up sonorous perfection. With influences from Damien Rice to Marty McFly, the Fearne boys’ eclecticism is charming.
Fearne’s magic lies in mixing the recognised Brighton sound with the heartfelt, weighty delivery emblematic of romantic Bournemouth. Further add a measure of dry wit with a good dose of eccentricity and you have a recipe for success. If you like your indie pop/rock energetic, your band members passionate and your performances polished to perfection, then look no further.
Check out Fearne at.... http://www.myspace.com/fearne
The Live music stage will finish at 18.15 however there will be live music throughout the night out on the decking at Urban Reef.

ArtCoast presents SurfX
Artcoast is an outdoor art event inspired by the natural environment, where land meets sea. The event juxtaposes the notion of art in the natural world with the notion of arts and leisure and its role in regeneration of the previously deprived area of Boscombe.
The project encompasses biodegradable art, which rots and physically regenerates into its environment, (Walk of Art) and the contemporary notion of creatively combining art and sport in a coastal setting. (SurfX) This creative collective that promotes green issues and engages a wider range of audiences with art and leisure.
SurfX is an exhibition of arts and sport located on the freshly regenerated Boscombe sea front. On the 1st May 2011 this beautiful beach will play host to a number of seaside themed activities such as paddle boarding, kite surfing, beach volley ball and an exciting Groms surf competition hosted by Boscombe Boardriders in collaboration with leading surf brand O'Neill. Alongside this will be a live music from some of Dorset's finest up and coming bands, surfer themed art exhibited along the pier and special guest appearances from the surfer world! To compliment all of these activities Urban Reef will be serving delicious food and drinks to keep us all going and the RNLI will be demonstrating how to stay safe at sea. The end of the day will be celebrated with a spectacular eco friendly fire show at sunset where we can all enjoy a headlining performance and the beautiful, natural setting.
